How has it already been a month since our south-west road trip? The past two months have completely flown by, and I’m at a loss to how I’m about to write about a late summer trip when it’s going to be November next week. Have we had autumn? Did I miss it?
Perhaps September and October passed in the blink of an eye because I’ve only been at home for one full week out of the past seven. We planned our Cornwall trip ages ago, back at the start of summer when I knew I’d want to drag out my favourite season. I then booked shoots in Wales, Cumbria and Spain (plus a weekend away in the Peak District with friends) and it suddenly felt like a twelve day south-west sojourn perhaps wasn’t the best idea in an already hectic couple of months.
My boyfriend encouraged me to cut our trip short, but I’d already booked shoots and planned accommodation so that wasn’t going to happen. Initially, I’d booked shoots to bookend the trip, but the first shoot cancelled last minute, leaving me out of pocket a significant amount of money and with nowhere to stay at the beginning of our trip. I’ve gone into how I combined work with travel in much more detail in this newsletter, so I won’t repeat myself here. Rather, I’m going to jump straight into my recommendations for places to save for your next trip to my favourite part of the UK. I’ll just be focusing on the eight nights we spent in Cornwall for this newsletter, although we did also spend a couple of days in my favourite part of East Devon at the end of the trip.
