There is a corner of my book shelves dedicated to what I like to call ‘literary fiction for nature lovers’. Niche, yes, but some of my all-time favourite novels fit into this category. Books set amongst nature, where the landscapes are described in such detail they are almost characters in themselves (The Overstory is perhaps the most notable of these books; a novel where the trees are the main characters). Books that focus on relationships between animals and humans. Folk horror tales that rely heavily on the atmosphere of the surrounding environments.
