My favourite Cornish cove, where I had the pleasure of shooting for a whole week

What a month! May has been one of my most successful months yet as a freelancer in terms of opportunities, places travelled and money earned. I’m also incredibly stressed, have barely been at home and have actually made myself ill — but I’ve spent a week in my most beloved corner of Cornwall, been flown to the south of France for a shoot, managed to enjoy a long weekend away with my boyfriend and friends, and got through an incredible amount of work.

I’m glad I kept a diary this month, as it’s been so interesting to read back on everything I’ve tried to cram in and realise that I’m trying to do too much. As I wrote last week, I’m trying to step away from comparing myself to others that I follow on social media, and I’ve realised that my work-life balance and reducing stress is much more important to me than being able to say I’ve worked on X amount of shoots or made X amount of money. I’m writing this introduction on the evening of Thursday 29th, before I head away again next Tuesday for a week-long shoot abroad. All I want to do this weekend is weed my garden, hike up a hill for a swim in my favourite dam, and read a book.

This newsletter is inspired by

Alicia Waite
who writes one of my favourite newsletters which includes weekly diaries of what she’s been working on as a successful fashion photographer.
