I often write about the places I would love to visit or stay at in the future - but what about those awe-inspiring hotels and hideaways I have already stayed in? There are so many incredible places that I haven’t wanted to leave, and I’m going to profile these in this new mini series.

I’m going to begin with somewhere which is always on the tip of my tongue when people ask for recommendations. Naturbyn is a self-proclaimed ‘nature village’ located in a secluded bay of Lake Eldan, Värmland, Sweden. There are various forest houses and tree houses to stay in, but it is the two house boats that are really special.

I first came across these unique floating cabins many years ago, via Instagram and had been quietly plotting how I could base a holiday around a stay there. Two summers ago, everything fell into place and I worked a one-night stay at Naturbyn into a two week road trip around West Sweden. It remains one of the most special places I have ever slept.
