Thoughts on my First Experience of Solo Travel

How did I find 12 solo days island hopping in Greece - and would I do it again?

I’m publishing this newsletter from my hotel room in Athens, on the last night of my twelve-day solo trip. I’ve spent the past (almost) two weeks island hopping in the Cyclades: Athens – Andros – Mykonos – Syros – Athens. And for the first time ever, I’ve been completely alone on my travels.

I’m not 100% new to solo travel. I regularly travel on my own within the UK for work and have stayed places on my own for one or two nights – usually for work. I’ve also flown on my own many times, both for work and to meet friends who live elsewhere. I also travelled home from Queenstown (New Zealand) on my own when I was 21. But almost two weeks completely on my own was an entirely new experience.
